How many of you turn on the TV or radio, or glance at your daily paper, and groan inwardly at the masses of financial doom and gloom we are all being spoon-fed at this time?
Unless we break out of this self-perpetuating spiral of negativity, guess what? It will only get worse. Why do we get all of this succession of bad news - is it because good news doesn't sell papers, or grab headlines?
Well, we all have obstacles to overcome in our everyday lives, so would it not be better to treat each obstacle as a stepping stone to success!
For example, at the moment, property prices are slumping, as are share prices. But think - they are not making any more land, and the world population has not stopped increasing, so the simple rule of supply and demand will ensure that property prices will recover again, and continue their 100 year or more trend that prices double around every 7 to 10 years. Start looking for bargains, but don't overstretch yourself, to make sure you are around in years to come as a property millionaire!
Also, look at the value of some of the best companies on the stock market today. Those that were not tainted by the mistakes of certain greedy activities by the banks and other credit institutions over the last 10 years will be at such a bargain basement price, that those who buy now will be sitting pretty in years to come.
All around us, there are stories to be found where obstacles were faced up to head on, and ways found to overcome them. The problem with obstacles is that physical ones are usually fairly easy to see a way around, but the most difficult are those that sit uneasily in peoples minds!
To shift obstacles out of your mind usually requires help from other people, mentors, friends, life coaches, and the like,(people like Bob Proctor and Linda Forsythe) but when everyone is continually force-fed bad news from all-round, where do you break out of this viscous circle?
Well, there are two obvious answers here.
1. Stop reading papers, and watching TV and radio (a bit difficult, as we are surrounded by them).
2. Look for inspirational stores from ordinary folk who have overcome their obstacles in life, whether they be from financial difficulties, health, relationships, bereavement, fraud, or whatever.
If you go through life looking for greatness in ordinary folk (and some heros) rather than being overcome by the dim and dismal failures of others, it must be pretty obvious that the only way will be up for your spirits.
