As one of the world’s largest phone manufacturers, Sony Ericsson may take a more twisted road to smartphone ubiquity. It throws its weight behind Symbian and then began its journey back in the pre-joint venture Ericsson. Symbian would finally become the world’s most popular as a smartphone platform. Its fatal error is putting all its support to the doomed UIQ flavor but share out even a fraction of the support to its cousin S60. The untimely collapse of UIQ caused the company nearly rudderless and ill-equipped, and it became ill-equipped to cope with its competitors such as Nokia, HTC and Apple. After this heavy thump, Sony Ericsson continues supporting Symbian through its involvement with the Symbian Foundation and phones like Satio and Vivaz. From Windows Mobile with the Xperia X1 to X10, It ramp up support for them within short time. The Xperia X10 might be the most promising product for Sony Ericsson to redeem its reputation of modern smartphones. It combines attractive hardware with Android and charming custom skin. X10 is pretty designed. In front of the device is glossy plastic. X10 has a big VGA display with 4-inch full wide. If you keep it new and clean, glossy plastic looks pretty good. It will be a war-scarred screen if you put it into your pocket with your keys or nail clippers or something else sharp. So users should be cautious to place it in case of scratch or smudges. Around the back, the X10’s battery cover is made of lovely and high quality soft touch material and it is 13mm thick, not the thinnest but enough to look and feel. From left to right are Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, HTC HD2, HTC Nexus One and HTC Desire   What we have to notify is X10’s 8.1 megapixels camera, it presents about the highest-res camera in Android phones. Even the megapixel count has little to do with actual picture quality, but the specialty is that Sony Ericsson is pride to produce X10’s camera by holding their own. In fact, if you put the photos on a computer, you can easily find the difference between high and low megapixel photos. X10 is also a music player. Maybe the music was a little less punchy on the bass side of the spectrum, we could barely detect the presence of any electrical noise on the line. X10 really did well on this music aspect and it also did well through to the earpiece while on calls. The least of the perfection, X10 chose to use the Android 1.6 but not Android 2.0 or 2.1. Although Android 1.6 still a perfectly serviceable version of the platform, compared to Android 2.0 and 2.1, it is a little regretful. But, in any case, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been Sony Ericsson’s best seller in 2011.
