Everyone who struggles with their self image will eventually try weight loss methods in order to improve themselves. The idea that people have of what they look like from their point of view however can be slightly skewed on occasion. This can result in unhealthy behavior both physically or psychologically and can do more harm than good.
Our current society puts great importance on the way we look and this causes people to adjust their Self Image to match up with what society wants. Too often we see that the ideal body is skinny, muscular, and with no blemishes. This ideal body that is shown on TV and the internet forces many people to undertake Weight Loss simply to fit in with the crowd.
However this is dangerous as a person will never be satisfied until they have attained that perfect body. Unfortunately they are looking at themselves through a distorted lens and can never hope to achieve this goal. This leads to years of unhealthy eating, over exercising, and on occasion over medication. There are a few important things to remember to keep this from happening to you and it's important that they be kept in mind.
Your self image should never be dictated to you by society. If you allow this to happen you will have no rest, you will be tormented for all your life trying to fit in, and you will ruin your health. When it comes to matters of your personal view of yourself Weight Loss should only be used to improve your health, not fit into someone else's standards. Your healthy weight level is one that allows you to function well on a physical level without damaging your health.
Unfortunately even without outside interference we tend to look at our Self Image and continue to be dissatisfied. This is normal and completely human. Every one of us possesses that inner voice that tells us to improve ourselves and be better. While healthy Weight Loss can take care of an immediate physical problem and help improve your personal view of yourself it can also be addicting.
Some people continue to exercise excessively after achieving their target weight in order to continue to improve their image. Even though they have achieved their goal they still don't feel like they're good enough to fit in with people or be accepted. In order to move past this mentality people need to learn that social acceptance of their body is not all it's cracked up to be.
Most people who do achieve this near perfection status may look good on the outside, but on the inside they are in shambles. They aren't happy, can't enjoy life for fear of what others might think, and are constantly fighting a battle to keep this status. The solution to this is to find your healthy target weight which will lead to enjoying life more fully and improving your view of yourself.
Struggling with and finding your proper self image is something that we all go through in life. Weight loss can help us achieve this image but if enforced too heavily can have harmful effects. You must learn to find your target weight and when you do you must accept your body as it is. No human being is physically perfect, nature intended for each of us to be different and the healthy variations in body types are merely the way we are meant to be.
