When submitting a Resume to a potential employer you want it to look professional. Read this article so you can learn tips to create a resume that will stand out from the crowd!!

When you are writing a resume, you need to make sure it is formatted properly. A resume writing format is much more than centering your name and making sure sub headings are bolded. There is an art to it, and you need to make sure you represent that art well. For instance, you need to make sure all of your experience and education are listed properly.

When it comes to your experience you will want to make sure that is listed first. Your experience is very important and you need to make sure you do not have any experience gaps. If you have gone for some time without working, then it is important that you fill that time with something else. For instance you could do community service or charity work. Being a volunteer will count as work experience and you can proudly put that down on your resume.

If you leave the work gaps as they are, then the employer might simply overlook your resume. A gap in employment demonstrates unwillingness to work, which is something that most employers simply will not have in their establishment. The next point we need to bring up is honesty.

Being honest in your resume is not exactly a formatting point, but it is something that you need to think about carefully. Many people say that you should lie on your resume, which could include experience that you do not actually have. Let us be clear: if you list a piece of experience that you do not have you will most likely be found out. If you are found out then you will lose your job and possibly be pressed with criminal charges. This is a very serious business, and you should do everything you can to stay on the good side of your employer.

Getting back to the formatting, you can include a border if you want. A border around the edge of the resume will do well to make it look more contained, so make sure you give it a try. Remember that any border you insert should not be too extravagant, and in no way should it detract from the rest of your resume.

Make sure you choose a good font for your resume. You don't want anything that looks too goofy, so select something that stands out and looks professional. In a good resume writing format you would probably choose Times New Roman or Calibri. These stand out but don't look too out there.

There are many formatting points to follow when creating a good resume. Just make sure you stick to them and everything will be fine. If you fail to make an impression though, your resume will most likely be thrown out and you will need to start out with new resume writing format techniques. Good luck landing the job of your dreams!
