Many people suffer from insomnia. Insomnia hypnosis is a natural treatment for sleeplessness, something that many people can consider. This treatment method is natural, safe, and much cheaper than medications or therapy sessions. Despite what many people believe, there is nothing mystical or magical to being hypnotized. We all enter hypnotic states in our everyday lives. It is simply a method of relaxation that can be performed by individuals on themselves and others.
The concept behind insomnia hypnosis is very similar to other forms of hypnosis but with a different goal. Aside from uses in finding old memories, recounting traumatic events, and trying to improve oneself, hypnosis is also used for relaxation. Ask anyone how stress-free their lives are in current times and, if you're lucky, you'll get a half-hearted laugh in return.
This hectic modern world we live in is filled with stresses, anxieties, and taxing events that can leave us drained and exhausted. We live in a cycle of caffeine and not enough sleep. Trouble sleeping is a common side effect of being overworked or overstressed. The typical methods for getting to sleep when it eludes you don't always work. Unlike medications hypnosis is safe and non-addictive.
Nothing can hurt you when you're undergoing insomnia hypnosis. You are in complete control of the event. When listening to a hypnotist or an audio track, the main idea is to relax as much as possible. Sleep isn't something that we can just do whenever we want. Our minds have to be ready to sleep. The most common complaint from insomniacs is that their minds simply won't relax enough to go to bed.
One strategy that sleep experts suggest is good sleep hygiene. Avoid naps during the day and don't try to do busy, active tasks that get your mind racing in your bedroom. Live in the natural light-dark cycles - and keep the lights dim in the evening, bright in the daytime.
Insomnia hypnosis convinces the mind to take a break from the day to day problems that may preoccupy you. The approach gives you permission essentially to relax and go blank. This doesn't mean that you're turned into a mindless drone but rather to sleep and refresh yourself to tackle your problems with new ideas in the morning.
After you have let go of your problems, most methods will take you through about 15 to 30 minutes more of relaxation and mental suggestion to relax. After you are completely relaxed the suggestions that are meant to encourage falling asleep easily and deeply are given and repeated for some time. Peaceful, calming music in the background can also help as part of the hypnotic process.
When this is over you are given the command to wake up from your relaxation usually with a countdown from 5 and at the end you are fully awake. This isn't a one-time cure-all type of treatment so don't expect instantaneous miracle level results. Still, hypnosis can help treat insomnia.
Common forms of hypnosis involve self hypnosis. You can get good hypnotic CDs online or in stores. The program will require you to listen to the audio track repeatedly. However each time you listen the program, the suggestions become more effective. You begin to change your sleepless habits into sleep-promoting habits. Then the suggestions begin to take hold.
Like anything else it takes time and effort but it's much safer than medication and the only side effect is a better night's sleep...not exactly a hard choice to make when faced with sleepless nights.
So when suffering from insomnia you can go the medicated route or try insomnia hypnosis. To summarize, there are no harmful side effects from hypnosis, and you are in complete control at all times.
It is neither painful nor taxing and the most common after effect is a feeling of relaxation. Keep in mind that it takes time for these things to work. In the end, though, the methods for insomnia hypnosis are less expensive than the medical route and increase your sense of self control and mastery of your mind and body.
