It's easy to feel connected with Spirit when you're in a groove and life is smooth. But when the going gets tough, when you feel anxious, afraid and alone, the Source of your understanding is there for comfort if you align yourself in a way to receive it. Here are seven tips to open your heart to spiritual healing:
1. Pause and get centered. Stop whatever you're doing and take at least 5 to 10 minutes to focus on making a connection with the universe. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and ask for guidance, willingness, grace and strength.
2. Explore a different perspective. Is there a positive side to this dilemma; perhaps a future benefit to your current difficulty? How would a disinterested, outside party describe your situation? How would Spirit view this challenge? You don't have to agree with another viewpoint; just explore it. You'll be surprised at how this exercise can change the way you see things and give you a chance to reduce your sense of drama and trauma.
3. Practice listening intently to other people. What message might they be delivering to you? If you find yourself losing concentration or rejecting what someone else is saying, stop and re-focus. Spirit often speaks to us through other people. Don't miss out on receiving an important insight because you failed to really listen. Spiritual messages are everywhere. The more you listen, the more you will hear.
4. Get into the present moment. Concentrate on the task at hand whether it's work or recreation. The goal is to become so focused on your current activity that you lose track of time. As a result, your mind will let go of your problem, giving you temporary relief and a chance to reclaim your power and balance.
5. Stay positive. Challenge yourself to greet and smile at as many people as possible throughout your day. This is a great way to attract and transmit positive energy. How do you feel when someone smiles back at you? Positive energy is the basis for positive thinking and action.
6. Reach out to others. Take time to connect with a child, parent, elderly person, old friend or even a pet. Do they have a message for you? What qualities do they possess that you would like to foster in yourself? How does focusing on someone else make you feel about yourself? Does it help you develop a clearer picture of yourself in relation to the universe?
7. Write about it. Keeping a journal is a fabulous tool for creating insight, changing your perspective and planning action items that can help you move through painful experiences towards a path of healing and spiritual growth.
